The following are up-to-date opportunities available for local businesses, not-for-profit organizations, and other interested parties. If you need further information on any of the below, please contact Economic Development for assistance by email at: ecdev@mvcounty.com.

    1. Northern and Regional Economic Development (NRED) FundingApplication Deadline is Dec 6

      NRED funds projects led by Alberta municipalities, Indigenous communities, or non-profits that support regional economic development and diversification. Changes to the program for this intake include:
      • Expansion of project funding from $10,000 to $300,000 and up to 3 years for project duration
      • New program priorities for 
        • Projects that increase investment readiness and regional attractiveness for private investment
        • Projects supporting planning and feasibility studies leading to economic development enabling investments to boost regional growth
        • Projects that support local and regional business and industry, including retention and expansion      
    2. Alberta Broadband Fund (Stream 2) - Expressions of Interest (EOI) Open until Nov 8
      The provincial and federal governments invite eligible applicants under the Universal Broadband Fund to submit their EOI to connect underserved households in Alberta in areas without access to Internet speeds of 50/10 Mbps. Funding is available until March 31, 2027, and projects must be completed by this date. The focus of this call is on densely populated areas without service indicated on this attached map.

    3. Travel Alberta Tourism Investment Grants for 2025/2026: Application Deadline is Nov 8
       
      Three funding streams available – Product Development, Rural Development & Promotion, and Events & Festivals.

    4. Local Growth & Sustainability Grant: Application Deadline is Nov 29
      Local governments with over 10,000 and fewer than 200,000 people can apply for infrastructure funding to address growth pressures and to attract industrial projects.

    5. New Alberta Population Dashboard: Includes population projections for new geographies

    6. CanExport Community Investments  – Proposals Accepted Nov 18 – Dec 13 
      This program provides grants between $3K - $500K to cover up to 50% of eligible expenses. Agreements are made for a one-year period, from April 1 to March 31.

    7. Small Community Opportunity Program (SCOP): Application Deadline is Dec 20 
      SCOP provides grants to solve challenges and find opportunities in rural areas. Indigenous and small communities, as well as non-profit groups they work with, may receive between $20K - $100K for local projects. The grant may fund up to 90% of eligible project costs and the applicant must fund at least 10%. See detailed Program Guidelines HERE.

    8. Strategic Energy Management for Industry (SEMI) Program: Learn more by registering for the Oct 31 Info Webinar
      Helps provide industrial & manufacturing facilities with knowledge & training in energy management, helping increase profitability by reducing energy costs, growing organizational skills and capacity building, and assisting with the cost of capital retrofits.

    9. Alberta’s Public Land Trails Grant Program: Application Deadline is Dec 13
      Provides funding for maintenance, capacity-building, and education or outreach projects that occur on public land outside of provincial parks; wildland provincial parks and ecological reserves. The program focus is on non-motorized trails.

      Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) Virtual Learning Series for Employers - Nov 5 to Nov 28
      Employers will learn about IRCC outreach and support services, in addition to immigration programs to help hire and retain global talent.
